LACEY JEAN

Q Where are you located?
A I am based in both Whistler and Squamish, BC. You can also find me doing fairly regular guest spots at a couple different tattoo studios in BC and Alberta. I do a fair bit of work by appointment only, but I also enjoy doing walk-in's when there is time available in my schedule to do so. Check out my instagram page here for current info on walk-in and last minute availabilities, as well as guest spot and convention announcements.

Q Do you require an age limit to get tattooed?
A Yes, you must be 18 years or older with valid government ID to get tattooed.

Q Are you taking on new projects/clients? How long is your waitlist?
A My books are always open and I'm always taking on new clients and projects. I'm currently booking out around 6-10 weeks in advance, dependant on the project and your flexibility on days to get tattooed. Sometimes I am able to accommodate smaller projects within a shorter timeline if there is availability in my schedule. Consultations can often be set up within a couple weeks and easily within a month.

Q I want to book a consultation/appointment. What's the best way to get ahold of you to discuss my ideas? Do you have a consultations fee? Do you require a deposit to book an appointment?
A I love taking on new projects of all sizes. Please send me an email or fill out my tattoo request form here. Consultations are free of charge. In order to book a tattoo appointment I require a non refundable deposit. Please refer to my 'policies' page for more info.

Q What do you charge/what is your hourly rate?
A My hourly rate fluctuates dependant on the design you are choosing to do. Custom work is $220/hr, predawn design work is $200/hr and flash design work is $180/hr. GST is not included Please refer to my 'policies' page for more info.

Q What payment methods do you except?
A Cash is preferred. I also accept debit or credit card, I just charge for the additional fees that come with using those forms of payment.

Q I need to cancel/reschedule, how should I let you know?
A Please email me. 72HRS notice is required to reschedule. Please refer to my 'policies' page for more info on how your deposit works for your tattoo appointment. My livelihood and income depends on reliable and committed clients. I ask all my clients to do their best to stay to the scheduled date(s) agreed upon.

Q I might be late to my appointment…What should I do?
A Please let me know as soon as possible by either email, phone call, text or DM. Please refer to my 'policies' page for more info on late arrivals.

Q When will my artwork for my project be ready for me to check out?
A If it's a flash or predawn design, it's ready to go. You just need to choose whether you want just linework, colour or black and grey. If it's a custom design, I will have your finalized artwork completed and ready for you to see the day of your appointment. For smaller projects (under 6 hours of estimated work) I book adequate time for small adjustments if needed the day of your appointment. For larger projects (over 6 hours of estimated work) I will send a rough concept layout approximately 3- 4 days beforehand. If there are any issues, please respond accordingly and we can discuss options If you wish to be more involved in the design process past our initial consultation, I have different package options available based off the level you wish to be involved at additional price points.

Q I'm unsure about the drawing that was created for me, will you change it?
A Every artist approaches this question differently and every circumstance is unique. I love collaborating with my clients to come up with a unique piece of art that's just for them. I do my best to meet the needs of and please my clients, but sometimes ideas get lost in translation or sometimes we change our minds. This is the beauty and challenge of creating a custom tattoo and commissioning an artist to design out your thoughts. If you decide the rough concept isn't for you and you'd like to see in a different layout, please let me know. I will design one more rough concept layout at no extra cost. Past this point, if more drawing time is required, I just charge accordingly. If you decide on the day of your tattoo appointment that the artwork is not for you and you ask me to redraw your artwork, majority of the time I'm on board. I will then take that day we were scheduled to tattoo to redo our consultation, we will rebook your appointment, a new deposit will be needed to secure a new time and I will redraw your art. Please note, there will just be an additional cost associated with your request to compensate my extra time towards your project. Please refer to my 'policies' page for more info.

Q How should I prepare for my first tattoo appointment?
A Get a good nights sleep, wake up without a hangover, eat a complete and healthy meal and be sure to bring some snack food. Wear comfortable clothing that is suited to the area that you are getting tattooed. Bring a clean towel or blanket to move around the studio if you're required to be partially/fully nude. Prepare the skin to be tattooed by exfoliating and shaving the area and try to avoid having a deep sun tan or sun burn. Bringing music or a movie with headphones, or a book can be helpful, along with keeping the remainder of your day open.

Q I'm concerned about the pain and my tolerance for the tattoo. Can I use a numbing cream?
A Most of the time, a tattoo is just uncomfortable, and I find most individuals are able to tough it out. There are certain spots on the body (stomach, ribcage, lower back, inside of joints, neck) that are definitely a bit harder to deal with. That being said, not all numbing creams are created equally, and some can have drastic and negative effects on your tattoo. If you do wish to use numbing cream or spray, I can suggest or usually provide a good quality one that won't impact your tattoo for an additional charge and the tube of cream or bottle of spray is yours to keep.

Q I think I need a touchup…how do I book in?
A Touch ups are normal and may be needed depending on the tattoo and the location on your body. Please contact me directly through my email to book a time. Please refer tp my policy page for more info on timeframes and touchup exceptions.

Q I want to purchase a gift certificate. Where can I get them?
A Please just contact me. You can get a gift certificate in whatever amount you wish. The value is good for one year from the purchase date. I'm hoping to have an online store up and running soon. Eventually they will be available on there as well.

Q I'm pregnant and or breastfeeding, can I get tattooed?
A I will not tattoo you if you are pregnant of breastfeeding. Tattooing creates an environment that could expose your fetus/new born to stress, potential pathogens or infections that could have drastic consequences. Once you are done breastfeeding as a primary source of nutrition (around 6 months) please contact me and we can get the tattoo ball rolling for you.

Q Why haven't you answered my text/call/dm/message/email yet?
A I find the best way to communicate about tattoo work is either in person or email. Text, calls, DM or messenger isn't ideal for a variety of reasons. I will always respond but if you wish to talk about your appointments or citique artwork, I will probably guide you towards email or in person meeting to communicate about your project. Sometimes it takes me a while to return emails, it really depends on my current work load. I do my best to reply to all emails, whether it's a referral, an answer to a question or to set up a consultation. I'm a one person show, so sometimes it takes me a bit to respond. If it's been awhile, please send me another one. My email is laceyxjean@gmail.com or refer to my 'contact' page

Q I have some questions about my new healing tattoo, what should I do?
A Refer to my 'aftercare' page, and if you have any other concerns, please contact me right away. There is no such thing as a dumb question.

Q This page didn't answer my question…. What now?
A Reach out, I am happy to help if I can.
